The 15th Green with Cleadon Water Tower in the background |
South Shields Golf Club is one of the longest established Clubs in
County Durham, North East England. It is situated on the Cleadon
Hills next to the Cleadon water tower, a local landmark which can be
seen for miles around. The course is a coastal heathland, open to
sea breezes and has wonderful views all round, particularly over the
Tyne estuary and north to the Cheviot hills and south to Wearside
and the North Yorkshire coast. The course is easy walking,
renowned for its quality greens and it rarely closes due to the
excellent natural drainage of the limestone rock on which it is
built. The course is well worth a visit and an enjoyable day is
always assured. |
