Changes to Competition Rules from 01/01/12
  • The Council of National Golf Unions (CONGU) rules indicate that all competitions should be run, whenever possible, as Qualifying Competitions.
  • The Handicap Committee have decided that from 01/01/12 all Individual Winter & Turkey Trot competitions will be qualifying competitions.
  • These competitions are played off a measured course, (yellow tees), which has a standard scratch of 38 pts.
  • If preferred lies are in operation on the day of the competition, the competition can still be treated as a qualifier for handicap purposes.
  • However, if more than two temporary greens are in operation on the day of the competition, the competition will revert back to a non-qualifier for handicap purposes.
  • Handicap Allowances

To limit the handicap of players in qualifying competitions is considered by CONGU to be contrary to the spirit of the game, therefore, players will now be allowed to play from their established handicap in all club competitions.
