Committee Members Needed

E-mail Print PDF

logoSouth Shields Golf club would like to offer the opportunity to all members to be involved in the new developments the golf club is trying to deliver for everyone. There are vacancies on main committee and a range of sub committees.  No experience is necessary as it is hoped members with an interest in both general business and specific topics areas (as listed below) would become involved and bring with them an enthusiasm and fresh outlook. In return of participating in these groups members will be able to shape the future and steer direction of developments within a keen, supportive environment.

There is an obvious time commitment (and no reimbursement for time!!) although the rewards are plenty. Involvement within the main committee would entail minimum time commitment of 8 hours to include 1 committee meeting per month (please see terms of reference) agenda includes feedback from sub committees, undertaking any matters arising such as members issues and general golf club required decisions.

The sub committees are theme based and meet on a monthly basis.
  • New Club House - developing, contracting, planning etc
  • New Equality Law - ensuring the equality and diversity legislation is implemented within the club
  • Juniors / Golf Mark - supporting SSGC juniors to achieve golf mark accreditation and enable young people to participate in sport
  • Entertainment - arrange social functions within the golf club
  • Finance - manage and oversee the budgets to ensure the golf club runs within budget
  • Marketing - promoting the activities and facilities available within the club
  • Handicaps - manage members handicaps (CONGU)
  • House - try ensure the existing clubhouse remains functional and open for use during transition to new clubhouse
  • Greens - develops course work programme for staff ensuring course is best kept, including machinery etc

We would welcome interest from across the member community.

If you would like to express an interest please contact Ray Stanness
